CSHL Rules Summarized
Rule IV-E-3 outlines when and how a player can be temporarily called up to another team:
- Eligibility to Call Up a Player:
- The team must have fewer than 10 skaters present (excluding goalies).
- If the team has 10 or fewer players on its official roster, it can only bring up players to match that total.
- The missing players must be marked as “sitting out” on the digital score sheet.
- Who Can Be Called Up:
- 14U and 12U: Players must come from a lower level team within the same age class or from any team in a younger age class, except AA teams.
- 10U: Players must come from a lower level team in the same age class or from the 8U age class, but not from the top “Red” team. The substitute must be in their last year at 8U.
- Roster and Game Sheet Requirements:
- The substitute player must be added to the digital score sheet with an asterisk (*).
- They may play in a maximum of 3 League Games for any one team before they must be permanently moved.
Rule IV-F allows goalies to be dual-rostered as emergency backups:
- Must be designated on the roster with an asterisk (EBUG).
- Can only play in emergency situations.
- AA goalies can only back up other AA teams in an older age division.
- A skater can also be an EBUG but cannot skate out for the team they back up.
