Geauga Youth Hockey

Geauga Youth Hockey Association welcomes kids ages from 4-15 to come play hockey.

The season begins with tryouts in early/mid-March with team placement set for most teams within two weeks after final tryout session. In mid-August, team practices begin with games beginning mid-September and lasting until mid-February. Teams qualifying for playoffs continue can play up to two more weeks.

The Pond in Chargin Falls is our home ice rink. Practices will be held here along with all home games. Locations for away games will be based on teams matched up to in assigned division by CSHL.

Teams have practices 2 times a week. Additional practices will be offered to teams to teams based on available ice and coach availability.

Most teams play from 30-50 games in a season. This includes CSHL games, scrimmages, and tournament games. Teams are in control of the number of extra games played.

Most games are scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but some games could be scheduled during the week due to schedule conflicts.

GYHA jerseys are required and purchased separately. A communication will be sent separately to setup dates and times to measure for jersey size and place one order.

Beyond registration and season fees, there could be additional costs if a player needs new jersey, hockey socks, or both.

All tournaments and scrimmages organized outside of CSHL game slots are also the responsibility of the team. Usually, team managers coordinate these items and collect the funds to cover these costs.

In general, most players play at their birth‑year age level.

Playing up is an exception, not a standard practice.

Any exception must be approved by the Director of Hockey or the Board of Directors.
